Great Eats Atlanta – My Favorites!

Oct 5, 2016 | 0 comments

One great thing about Atlanta and its suburbs is that it’s filled with lots and lots of great places to eat!  From fast food chains to local eateries Atlanta is most definitely not lacking in restaurants.  From breakfast, lunch, and dinner and anything in between there’s a great place you can go.  Whether you’re hungry for something exotic like Middle Eastern cuisine or some comfort food like good ole southern fried chicken or barbecue you’ll find it in and around Atlanta.  Here’s my list of Great Eats Atlanta!

Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q is a laid-back chain known for their slow-cooked barbecue and cheese biscuits.  With locations in 6 states, so far, barbecue joint is a great place to get your rib fix.  They’re desserts pretty good too!

great eats atlantaIf you’re hungry for breakfast head over to J. Christopher’s Breakfast & Lunch.  As their name states this locally owned small chain serves just breakfast and lunch in neighborhood locations.  Currently they have 23 locations in Georgia and Tennessee.

They have yummy breakfast specialties including Eggs Christopher and Blueberry Crunchcakes and a new twist of favorite lunch sandwiches like Turkey Monte Cristo.  They also have seasonal specialties like Egg Nog Cappuccinos and Pumpkin Pancakes.

This place quickly became one of our favorites.  Checkout that Turtle Cappuccino it’s terrific!

great eats atlantaI’m always in search of the perfect burger and the ones served up by Burger 21 Crafted Burgers & Shakes comes very close!

This fairly new franchise, the first location opened in 2010, currently has locations in 10 states.  They specialize in  “upscale” burgers such as The Ahi Tuna and Tex-Mex Haystack and signature shakes like their Key Lime Pie and Bananas Foster.

Or if you’re not into fancy burger, like me, I like my burgers plain and simple, you can order their Burger 101 and add your favorite toppings!  For me it’s just cheese please and a chocolate shake!  Yummy!

great eats atlantaWhen we’ve got a hankering for Middle Eastern cuisine the Jerusalem Bakery & Grill is our favorite go to place.  This locally owned restaurant has just 2 locations, Alpharetta and Marietta.

The friendly staff happily dish out plates of kabobs, shawarma, and falafels.  My grandson Devon loves the lamb shank plate!  The rest of us have a hard time deciding so we pretty much order one of everything.

If you’re not into Mid-Eastern dishes you can order a pizza or calzone, they have them too!

After lunch or dinner you can browse the bakery and grocery section for something sweet to take home, we always do!

mexicancollageMexican food is a family favorite.  You’ll find many locally owned Mexican restaurants in Georgia, they’re the best kind!  In Dacula we head for the neighborhood favorite, Fernando’s Mexican Restaurant.

It’s a great friendly place to hang out with friends and family, order a pitcher of margaritas and enjoy your favorite Mexican food.  Mine is their shredded beef chimichanga!

They host a live band once a week during the dinner hours, it gets really busy so go early and enjoy!

great eats atlantaFor a light breakfast, brunch, or lunch, or maybe just to satisfy your sweet tooth the Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe is THE place to go!

Walking into one of their 3 locations is like walking into Wonderland!  The display of pastries, cakes, and rolls is mind boggling.  It reminds me of the Mad Hatter’s tea party, I love it!

Everything here is not only delicious, it’s beautiful too!  The cuisine is influenced by Chines/Asian cuisine and its founder/chef Howie Ewe is dedicated to provide the best dessert experience.  In this he succeeds!

They offer everything from savory meat and veggie buns to fancy pastries and puddings.  Then there are the cakes!  For something more substantial you can order burgers, sandwiches, paninis, and more.  They also have an amazing menu of specialty coffees, teas, and more.  I could spend the day here!

great eats atlantaFor something cold and sweet check out Kremo on Pleasant Hill Rd. in Duluth!  This amazing place specializes in made to order ice cream rolls.  Just watching them make their creations is amazing!

The menu is limited, but I’m sure you’ll find something you want.  Watch them make your ice cream then pick you topping, yum!

I’m not sure which we enjoyed more, watching them make it or scooping up the creamy goodness.

Here’s a video!

If you can’t decide what you’re hungry for then head on to Ponce City Market’s Food Hall.  That place is great!  The huge food hall has everything from Asian restaurants to Burgers and Chicken to ice cream and desserts. I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll love there. Check out my post on Ponce City Market for more details!

I hope you love the places on my Great Eats Atlanta list!  I’m sure you have your own favorites, tell me about them!  I’d love to try them next time I’m in town.
